SLPP sweeps Bo by-Election

News from the just concluded Local Council Bye Elections in Lugbu in the Bo District shows that the opposition Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP) has once again asserted its position in the South-eastern voter entate of the country.

Sierra Express Media understands that the SLPP leads the polls with 2,100 votes; the ruling APC training with about 780 votes whist the Peoples Movement for Democratic Change is said to have only scored about hundred votes.

Meanwhile, the by-election is said to be relatively peaceful with no reports of any major incidents.

This has been attributed to President Koroma’s invocation of the MACP to ensure that the election went on smoothly. It is reported that before the president passed on the order for MACP, he met with Mr. John Benjamin, Chairman of the Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP) and Mr.  Charles Margai, Leader of the People’s Movement for Democratic Change (PMDC) at State House where he is said to have expressed grave concern over the unfortunate incidents of political violence that occurred following the recent Tongo Field local government by-election.
