Tunde Lewally doesn’t like us …Constituency 104 youths assert

Youths of the Mount Aureol community in Constituency 104, Ward 370, have expressed their disappointment over what they described as the lethargic attitude of their Member of Parliament, Hon. Babatunde Lewally for refusing to attend a peace mediation programme organized by the constituency people on Sunday, 29th September, 2013 at the Wembley Field, Leah Street, Fourah Bay, Freetown.  (Photo: Tunde Lewally and his wife)

According to an irate youth, Yousif Bangura, he said Hon. Tunde Lewally is becoming a surprise to the people of his constituency and that his failure to attend the most recent organized meeting over the weekend has raised a lot of concern in their minds.

He further disclosed that the meeting that was organized by youth groups in the constituency was aimed at promoting peace in their community where, he said they expected their Parliamentarian to have addressed them to giver them confidence.

He disclosed that youths, especially troublemakers, who have been identified or associated with well known gangster groups like, Cent Coast Cripps [CCC] , G-State, the School Soldiers, Banana State were all present at the meeting.

The Chairman of the meeting, Mr. Mustapha Peru, said that the meeting was called to share love and understanding among the people of Constituency 104 and to recall the unfortunate killing of two young men in that community during a football match.

He said the unfortunate issue was very alarming and has been of concern to both the local and international communities, who are all working hard to restore and sustain peace in the community.

He maintained that the absence of Hon. Babatunde Lewally cannot stop the peace process in the community but exposed him of neglecting his own people in their aspirations.

He pleaded with the people to love and be kind to one another and discourage all forms of gangsterism among the youths in the community.

One of the victims of the recent football violence, Mahmud Bangura, who showed the wounds he sustained on his chest when he was chopped by machetes, called for a minute’s silence for his late brothers, Luda Chris and Smokey G.

In his statement, the Presidential Youth Aid Sierra Leone, Mr. Mustapha Mamoud Bai Bangura, said he lives in the Fourah Bay community. He commended that youths for their respect in attending the meeting.

He pleaded with them to stay away from all dangerous drugs and violent acts and focus on building peace and promoting the President Koroma’s Agenda for prosperity.
