TSE Foundation assists vulnerable children

Thou Shall Eat foundation (TSE), a community based organization registered and incorporated with the Department of Treasury-Internal Revenue Services (IRS) of the Commonwealth of Virginia, United States of America as a state corporation, has been formed in Sierra Leone.

The Foundation was established in 2010 to undertake community care for orphaned and vulnerable children, especially those affected and infected by HIV/AIDS and those whose parents are disabled.

TSE Executive Director, Christopher Norman disclosed that due to the increasing number of orphans and the strained community safety nets, abject poverty and neglect of these parentless children who could not afford to access quality medical care, education and psychological support; they decided to form the organization to assist them.

Christopher Norman further revealed that following a survey by an independent research group, it was realized that there is an increase in the number of orphans in the country as well as those who have lost either one or both parents to HIV/AIDS and further disclosed that the program strives to reach the poorest in society and provide them with spiritual, social, medical and material support.

He added, “TSE services are offered to orphans in communities without discrimination. We believe and recognize that the family is the fundamental group of society and the natural environment for the growth and wellbeing of all its members, particularly children. Furthermore, Thou Shall Eat Foundation implements its activities nationally.”

According to Christopher Norman, the aim of the organization is to improve the quality of life for orphans, vulnerable children and their households, especially those with parents with disabilities through practical support, mobilizing resources to address critical issues for holistic child development, advance their rights and give them a brighter future for self-reliance.

He enlightened, “we work towards this mission by utilizing a child-centered and holistic approach to sustainable development, systematic integration into families and continued education. Our vision is, ‘A Sierra Leone where all orphans and vulnerable children have access to the basic needs of life so as to grow and develop to their fullest potentials like all other children.”

Concluding, Christopher Norman called on Government, NGOs and private business houses to support the foundation to enhance a better Sierra Leone as children are the future of any nation adding, “empower a child with education.”
