Port Loko police officers compromise bribery case

Latest report reaching this press speaks of a case of bad policing involving police officers attached to the Port Loko police station.

According to source, a commercial vehicle AFK 258 that was allegedly on a clandestine operation within the Kambia-Port Loko Mange highway was intercepted by a team of journalists who were on their way to Kambia on timber seedling planting exercise in the five provincial headquarter towns in the country.

Reports say when the driver on board the said vehicle noticed that they were being chased by the press he immediately abandoned the vehicle and ran into the bush. The driver later emerged from hiding and attempted to bribe the journalists with the sum of Le100,000 so that the police will know about their mission.

“As professionals we accepted the bribe money from the driver which we handed over to the OSD boss at the Mange check point,” said one of the journalists who said to their greatest surprise, on their way back to Freetown they discovered that the police had released the vehicle.
