Njala Principal receives Gold Medal award from India

The Vice Chancellor and Principal of Njala University, Alhaji Prof Abu Sesay has received a rousing welcome back home after receiving the prestigious Gold Medal award in India for his dedicated and diligent service to the university and the nation as a whole.

Welcoming the Vice Chancellor at the Njala University, Bo campus recently, the Deputy Vice Chancellor of the University, Prof. Patrick J. Squire underscored the successes the university has achieved over the years with about two hundred members of staff and approximately three thousand five hundred students in various academic disciplines.

He commended Prof. Abu Sesay for his proactive moves in ensuring that the university was moved from the capital, Freetown to its original location in Njala, adding that the Vice Chancellor has waged an uncompromising war on corruption at the university.

“He has also succeeded in eradicating cultism on campus,” the Deputy Vice Chancellor added, pointing out that Prof Abu Sesay has worked assiduously with both the academic and administrative staff of the college to upgrade the university to an enviable standard among many others.

In his remarks, the Resident Minister, South, Muctaru Conteh, congratulated the principal for his outstanding performance and contribution towards the promotion of education nationwide, including that of his Presidential Award as Commander of the Order of the Republic, among others.

In response, the Vice Chancellor and Principal, Alhaji Prof. Abu Sesay expressed delight over the warm reception accorded him by the students and the academic staff and recalled his experience during his visit in India.
