As anarchy heightens in SLPP… Sama Banya invokes the dead

One of the elders of the opposition Sierra Leone Peoples Party (SLPP), and one time Trade and Industries Minister, Dr. Sama Banya, has confessed that backbiting, betrayals, obscene languages and constant police intervention appears to be the order of things in the party nowadays.

Dr. Banya made the confession in a recent open letter to the deceased founding fathers and mothers of the party including, Sir Milton, Bai Farima Tas 11, Kandeh Bureh, A J Momoh, Gideon Thomas, Albert Margai, Siaka Stevens, Paramount Chief Julius Gulama, Rev. Paul Dumbar, R B Kowa, Paramount Chiefs R B S Koker, Bai Koblo Pathbana, Alikai Modu, Alimamy Dura, Bai Shebora Yumkella, A g Caulker and  Kenawa Gamanga, Mrs. Constant Cummings-John, H E B (Ned) John, A J Randall, Newman Pratt, Teacher A S Koker, Lamina Sanko (Rev. Eldred Jones), Frank Anthony, Rev. M E S Gbudema, J E Mbayo, Paramount chiefs Albert Caulker, Kai Tongi, Bockarie Samba and the rest of the others.

“As I believe in life after death, I know that you must be with Christ but turning over in your graves as you watch with tears of anguish and disbelief the terrible events that are unfolding in the party which by inspiration and foresightedness you formed in 1951 and gave it the appropriate name and motto THE SIERRA LEONE PEOPLES PARTY, QNE COUNTRY, ONE PEOPLE respectively. As you recall the family and friendly atmosphere in which you deliberated, disagreeing sometimes until you arrived at a consensus to form this great party which you left to us as a legacy and heritage, you must be wondering and asking yourselves whether it is the same organization that you formed and which successfully led this country to independence in 1961,” Dr. Banya stated in the letter.

Dr. Banya said the dead founding fathers and mothers must be asking themselves in their graves what has gone wrong with the party in recent years. He informed the dead founders that their party is in turmoil in which state, with heavy hearts, they will assemble in Bo on August 16th for their convention.

“Where is the peace and tranquility of 1996, 2002 and 2005? When did a PPRC or State House ever intervene in our affairs?” Dr. Banya asked.

It seems the SLPP’s protracted problems have gone beyond the control of the living, so, Sama Banya is now calling on the dead to resurrect and settle the party once more.
