Rebranding and Reunifying SLPP is my prime political agenda former Ambassador assures in Makeni

He was enthusiastically endorsed by almost all of the attending delegates from across Bombali District in the northern political stronghold of the ruling All Peoples Congress Party (APC) over the weekend where the former Ambassador to Ghana, Alie Essa Bangura gathered some respectable faces and personalities belonging to the SLPP membership held at the city’s old town hall in the city of Makeni.  (Photo: Ambassador Bangura addresses the gathering)

Viciously, the former Ambassador received a rosy welcome on his return from Kabala in the north part of the country. He was capsuled by fellow aspirants contending for various executive positions, an event scheduled to take place on August 17, in the southern city of Bo. In his contending team, former Bo city Mayor, Dr. Wusu Sannoh vies to deputize the former Ambassador as deputy Chairman/leader of the SLPP. Former President, Alhaji Ahmad Tejan Kabba’s wife, Isatu Jabbie Kabba (IJ) is yearning for a second term as national Women’s leader. Lawyer Alex Musa is contending for national Secretary Generalship and colleague Lawyer, Hindolo Ngevao energizes for the position of Legal Adviser, to name but a few.

Part of his careful statement to the gathering, Former Ambassador Alie Essa Bangura softly assured the to-be-delegates, members and supporters that despite his rival camp’s splitting threats of already imposing a Presidential Aspirants ahead of the 2017-18 national polls, he is instead more or less focus on rebranding and reunifying the Sierra Peoples Peoples Party (SLPP) after he shall have gained the delegates victory support in Bo, mid next month.

In his words, the SLPP as a Political Party is not a social club. He furthered that till date, there is little or no respect for elders and leaders, further justifying even the matter stands in court, how the ex-President’s wife in an instance, was manhandled by considerable figures in the Party. Does that send good and external signals? he queried.

Among his intended political priorities, he continued, if elected, he will institute what he called, a “unification committee” to sanitizing and uniting the Party against every dispute and grieves. He will establish an orientation for the Party delegates to further making them know their rights, roles and responsibilities; elevate Political status of women in the Party alongside regulating what he termed as the gender document but with meaningful consultations because a responsible Party cannot do without these important people, he noted. Peace carnivals will also be organized across the country to stretch and strengthen unification and whatever it costs me, I will make sure I bring total peace within the SLPP family as one of the criteria to matching  us to state house in the next national polls, the former Ambassador assures.

The Ambassador did not however conclude without a Political touch on his opponent, former northern Paramount Chief in Kambia District, Somanoh Kapen whom he described as being rejected by his subjects for what he called bad leadership qualities and styles even though he added to adjust that ex-President Kabba had on two different occasions attempted to reinstating him, but equally rejected by his fatigue subjects. How can such a rejected figure claim to have suffered for the SLPP Party after objectively rejected for atrocious ridiculous leadership styles and simultaneously when the very SLPP was in total governance, comparing me that have immensely sacrificed for the Party in diverse ways, financially, morally and socially? He questioned a gathering that responded in thunderous applause. And as a Party, we are not fighting and abusing each other, but must learn to say the fact when it is the fact. Look, Somanoh is 70 years old and I am 57,  he stated.

Almost all of the speakers dilating on the same, Ex-President’s wife, Isatu Jabbie Kabba described Somanoh Kapen as a liar who cannot redeem the Party from its current leadership bondage apart from the former Ambassador whom she classed as being the better, the sober and the unifier. Meanwhile, despite every visible and oral readiness displayed by the-delegates to voting the former Ambassador and team, IJ Kabba and team further stretched their appeal to the delegates to search their conscience as they remain the sole figures to decide the Party’s fait and victory ahead of the 2017-18 national polls. Questions and answers session climaxed the meeting and it was chaired by the region’s Party Secretary, Sorie Ibrahim Fofanah.
