SLPP Supporters fight in Kenema

Supporters of Rtd Brigadier Julius Maada Bio and supporters of Ambassador Alli Bangura were caught  in a serious confrontation and an ensuing duel that flanged residents of Wesley Street and surroundings panic stricken.

Reports from our south eastern bureau confirmed that aspirant for the national chairmanship of the party Ambassador Alli Bangura stormed the Sierra Leone Peoples Party (SLPP) office in a fleet of fifteen vehicles purportedly to host a meeting where he intended to declare his candidature past Saturday July 19th.

Supporters of the 2013 Presidential election and flag bearer of the SLPP, Rtd. Brigadier Julius Maada Bio put up a stout resistance to the proposed meeting and this resulted in a serious scuffle between the two factions of SLPP supporters.

Supporters of Bio said that they were not informed of any such meeting in the party office and therefore debarred the occurrence of such meeting.

While a bitter argument ensued between both factions a supporter of Ambassador Bangura ripped off a picture of Maada Bio on the wall and this resulted in a fight. The warring factions pelted stones and other missiles at each others which caused residents to flee for the safety of their lives.

The police had to intervene to stop the raging battle although we are yet to confirm if any arrests were made.

Supporters of Bio have threatened to bring down every picture of Alli Bangura in Kenema.

Sources say that Ambassador Alli Bangura had earlier on approached a renowned Paramount Chief in Kenema to pay obeisance and inform him about his proposed meeting with supporters of his party but he was reportedly snubbed by the said chief. Rather it was told the Paramount Chief (name withheld) retorted that his role forbids him to take active part in party politics.

  • Fraction and Friction within SLLP.
I am able to understand the fractions and frictions within a party. I have experiences in Germany, too. However there is no mobilization of supporters on the road. We discuss and then the basis / members of the party decide democratically by elections.
But the behaviour show, that the article about selfishness, ignorance and greediness for power and money is still valid (NY USA – broad cast : http://www.aid21.de/Team.htm).
There is only a chance to change your development in your country. Open-minded people conglomerate / merge several small parties to a Liberal Democratic United (LDU) Party. I am sure LDU will get at least 10%, because the people in Sierra Leone are fed up of the ACP and SLPP. And in this case, SLPP and ACP will not get the 50% margin in the election 2017. They need the LDU as a coalition partner. They should chose the partner, who is meeting the political action plan of the LDU – but not to get the most paid posts with corruption money and other advantages (vehicles, fuel, properties, shares of companies, foreign education of daughters / sons with state budget money).
Go ahead a found LDU – Party.
