Massive Zircon theft in Moyamba… WAZ implicated

Monday June 17, a boat loaded with illicitly mined Zircon sand from Tisana and Mobureh in Moyamba District reportedly landed at the Tombo wharf, escorted by a Mines Warden called Mr. Feika, the Section Chief of Tasso, Kain Mamah who resides in Tisana and Mr. Issa Mansaray, all of whom are said to have been recently released from the Moyamba police where they are reported to have spent two days for attacking and assaulting and injuring an Indian Investor, Dominic Herold, and vandalizing his dwelling at Tisana.

The three men were said to have been released due to the intervention of certain dignitaries while the injured Indian continues to perish with his injury and the police are yet to charge the matter to court.

The boat loaded with the illegally mined Zircon sand is reported to be part of several tons of Zircon which the West Africa Zircon Mining Company (WAZ) has been illegally buying and smuggling without paying royalty to government, thereby depriving this nation of much-needed revenue.

This medium has been reliably informed that the Chinese-oriented West African Zircon Mining Company has been illicitly exporting about 80 containers of Zircon without going through the mandated Bollore African Logistics just to evade paying royalty to government and our sources have revealed that the Sierra Leone Police and the Mines Ministry have all this while been conniving with WAZ to defraud this country of billions of Leones in the form of taxes.

WAZ has reportedly frustrated the legal operations of a licensed Artisanal Mining Company, doing so with the blessing of the police, the Mines Ministry, the Paramount Chief of Kargboro, Madam Lenga Koroma and other bigwigs operating behind the screen.

Our investigation has also revealed that WAZ is now poised to smuggle another huge consignment of looted Zircon from areas they have no concession to mine and from illicit miners from whom they have no mandate to buy. All this is said to transpiring in the full glare of the police Dorris Lenga Koroma.
