Leone Stars smiles in Senegal en-route to World Cup Qualifier

Talking with the Coach Jonathan McKinstry on landing, as to how prepared and optimistic the team is for the Saturday encounter that  has been labeled as crucial, he replied “Both players and officials are optimistic. The Players are in top form after their draw match with Tunisia last Saturday back home. No doubt the players have been up and training hard to meet the challenge and I tell you, the nation stands a good chance of collecting maximum point but we however not taking any chances” he said.

Commenting on himself, he said the job of Coach has not been and still is, not an easy task but he is prepared to live up to the challenge. The players, he observed have been very receptive and interactive and have started to open up to new ideas. “I am satisfied they are in top form, looking good and their level of performance has been impressive, one can see eagerness in the team to put the country on the football map,” he said smiling and looking at me straight in the eyes.

According to the Director of Sports Alphan Coker, the team is looking forward to victory as they won the first leg in Sierra Leone by a two to one margin. “We want to maintain that record as one can now see that the players are fresh and determined” he noted.

Team captain Ibrahim Koroma alias “Obbreh” who plays professional football in Azerbaijan says the team has a good away record and he believes they will live up to the task and maintain the national spirit. “Only winning can put us on track and the race to BRAZIL 2014” he concluded.

Other officials of the delegation included the Secretary General of SLAFA Abdul Rahman Swarray and Sorie Ibrahim Sesay the Media Officer.

Both teams lock horns on Saturday in the capital Praia.
