Road Accidents Kill Two

A gruesome road accident at Sorie Lane, Jui Junction on Tuesday last week left two people dead, Chernor Sow and a thirteen year-old school girl, Aminata Koroma, who resided along Personage Street, Kissy in Freetown.

The unfortunate incident was disclosed yesterday by the District Traffic Officer, DTO, Woman Inspector, Victoria Isatu Sesay, during a news conference at her (D) Division office at Kissy.

According to Victoria Sesay,  speeding was the main cause of both accidents, one of which was caused by a Mazda van with Registration Number AHM 491 plying the Waterloo Road, the other, she said, was caused by a TVS motorbike AIA 110. She informed journalists that the driver of the van, Sinneh Alie Mansaray and the rider of the motorbike, Abu Bakarr Marah are both in police custody helping with the investigation.

The no-nonsense DTO raised grave concern over the fact that most commercial motorbike riders are without license and vowed to do every thing possible to eradicate rampant lawlessness among the riders. The DTO also noted that most drivers ply half-way, failing to take passengers to their destination, a situation which, he said, is causing her severe headache.

Victoria Sesay further informed that Police Constable 6488 Babadi S T. is investigating the death of the 13 year old girl while Police Constable 9840 is investigating the death of Chernor Sow.

The DTO concluded that for the past five months, she and her team have been able to raise Le80 million from court fines accrued.
