Transport Wahala Still Lingers On

In spite of the efforts made by both government and transport owners to ease the acute transport problem, the problem lingers on. City commuters from various destinations within and outside the city are faced with the daily problem of transportation shortage to convey them to and from work.

Even the recent suggestion of queuing to ameliorate the scrambling for vehicles has not helped the already deteriorating issue of transportation in the city.

Yesterday, while taking a brief stroll at the major poda-poda/taxi terminals around the city centre, this writer was faced with the awful scenes of acute transport problem at specific areas like Garrison Street via Rawdon Street and worst of it all East-End Police as usual.

Pondering over this burning transport problem, one wonders if the government’s effort in launching Mimi buses in the ministry of transport and aviation has got any effect at all.

The long queues formed at these stations are not only disturbing city commuters but it is also an embarrassment on the side of the government by failing to meet one of their basic social responsibilities in providing adequate transportation facility for its citizens.
