In Sierra Leone $69m Project in Limbo… SALWACO Cry Foul

The Station Manager of the Sierra Leone Water Company (SALWACO) in Lungi, Lansana Sawie, has accused the Angelic Contracting Firm, Circular Road, Freetown of mismanaging $69 Million meant for the implementation of water projects right across the country.

He made the accusation over the weekend during an exclusive interview with this reporter in his office in Lungi.

Mr. Sawie informed the project was meant to benefit Lungi, Kailahun, and Freetown.

The manager revealed that Angelic’s mismanagement of the project has disturbed the operations of SALWACO severely.

“The situation”, he said, “has seriously aggravated the Minister of Energy and Water Resources, Momodu Maligie, especially when the Parliamentary Oversight Committee on Energy and Water Resources has invited SALWACO, Angelic and the Energy and Water Resources Ministry to explain the mismanagement of the project.”

Mr. Sawie commended the Japanese Government for rescuing SALWACO with six bowzers worth €3,000 which the company is now using to service the various communities in Port Loko District.
