Vice President pays visit to Police
A high powered delegation, headed by the Vice- President of the Republic of Sierra Leone, Alhaji Chief Samuel Sam Sumana, on Saturday 30th March, 2013, paid an unexpected visit to the Local Unit Commander of the Lumley Police Station, Chief Superintendent, Kabba Kamara.
The visit was geared towards having first hand information on the ongoing construction of the ultra-modern structure for police officers deployed at Lumley.
Addressing people drawn from different works of life, Chief Samuel Sam-Sumana commended LUC Kabba Kamara for the initiative referring to it as a step in the right direction. He told the Engineer to be proactive by ensuring that the work is completed in record time, noting that procrastination is dangerous. According to VP Sam Sumana, the ultra-modern building will not only add value to the status of the police officers but also serve as a conduit for an effective policing.
The Inspector-General of police, Francis Munu, said he was overwhelmed by the intervention of the Vice–President, describing it as timely and apt. IG Munu maintained that the VPs visit made him elated and proud, pointing out that the visit was a glaring manifestation that their efforts did not go in vain. The Inspector-General pleaded with his personnel to maintain better working relationship with the community people to help them to minimize crime the more.
The pioneer of the project, Alhaji Issa Catco Kamara, who is also the Chairman of the Lumley Police Partnership Board, expressed his profound appreciation to the VP and IG for responding to their request. This, he opined, was an indication of their love and concern for the people of the Lumley community. He assured the Vice- President and I.G Munu that they will work collaboratively with the police to enhance adequate policing.
A conducted tour of the project site climaxed the visit.
