UAE Foreign Minister Assures President Koroma

They also discussed a range of issues of mutual interest and latest regional and international developments.

President Koroma was in the oil-rich Gulf State on a three day-official working visit at the invitation of the Vice President and Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum as a Guest of Honour at the Dubai World Cup Races which took place last Saturday 30th March, 2013.

In an earlier acceptance letter addressed to His Highness the Prime Minister, President Koroma wrote: “It is my fervent hope that the occasion will offer yet another opportunity for us to further strengthen the friendly and bilateral relations between our two countries and peoples.”

In a brief interview with the Information Bureau of the Sierra Leone Embassy in Riyadh shortly before his departure at the Dubai International Airport yesterday, President Koroma praised the UAE for the bilateral relations between the two countries. He said Sierra Leone was looking forward to cooperation with the UAE in various investment opportunities and development projects and expressed admiration on the ongoing comprehensive development in the UAE.

During his visit, the President held discussions of economic and investment interests with the UAE Minister of State and Chairman of MASDAR City, H.E Dr. Sultan Al Jaber, the Director General of the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA),  Dr. Adnan Amin, the Acting Director of the Abu Dhabi Fund for Development, H.E Mohammed Salem Al Suwaidi, the Executive Director Strategic Planning in the Royal Group of Abu Dhabi, Mr. Peter Abraham and Mr. Filip Matwin of the same group attached to the Science and Technology Department, Chairman for  TAQA Global (an energy company) Mr. Hamad Hur Al Suwaidi, the CEO of Exceed Industries,  Dr. Kamel Abdullah, Chairman of  Mulk –Ogi Holdings, Mr. Shaji – Mulk, among many top officials.

At MASDAR (an emerging global hub for renewable energy), the President and entourage were taken on a conducted tour of the city to see what the sustainable energy development and the breakthrough science and technology development is making in the UAE.

The President also visited the 123rd floor of the tallest structure in the world, Burj Khalifa in Downtown Dubai where he held fruitful discussions with potential investors.

Members of the President’s delegation included Foreign and International Cooperation Minister, Dr. Samura Mathew Wilson Kamara, Information and Communications Minister, Alhaji Alpha Bakarr Sahid Kanu, Special Executive Assistant to the President, Dr. Sylvia Olayinka Blyden, Special Adviser to H.E the President, Alhaji Ibrahim Ben Kargbo, Special Envoy of the President to the UAE and Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), Mr. Siray Alpha Timbo, Personal Advisor to the President, Mr. Brian Gilpin, among others.

The President and entourage ended their visit yesterday, 1st April, 2013 and were seen off at the Dubai International airport by Sierra Leone’s Ambassador to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and accredited to the UAE, H.E Wusu Munu and the Consul – General of Sierra Leone in the UAE, Mr. Bahigie Annan.
