Residents Commend OGI Operations

Residents in Kenema City, east of Sierra Leone  on Monday, 18th March, 2013 commended the activities of the Open Government Initiative (OGI).  This commendation came after a radio program held at the Sierra Leone Broadcasting Cooperation (SLBC) 93.5 FM in Kenema by the Director of OGI, Khadija Sesay and team, including, the OGI Regional Coordinator East, Titus Manssalay, the District Coordinator Kenema District John Sylvalie, District Coordinator Kono, District Coordinator Kailahun, I K Musa of Sierra Express Media, Gola Radio and OGI media Kenema, Ismail Sesay of Eastern Radio and also OGI Media Kenema.

In an interview with this medium, one of the listeners of the SLBC Kenema, Ibrahim Lamin said that when he hard OGI team on the radio on Monday speaking on their operations, mandate and the activities of Government, he well educated  the mandate of OGI and the activities of government countrywide. He said he now knows that OGI was established to bring the Government closer to the people and the people closer to the Government. This, he said is evident through the work of OGI’s media wing in Kenema.

Through OGI media, Ibrahim Lamin said the people of Kenema now realize the work of government as before now everything was centralised.

The people also commended the Director of OGI Madam Khadija Sesay for incorporating the media and called on her to strengthen the media team in order to better educate the people about the works of government in the provinces. This they said will help showcase the activities of the government and that of the OGI.
