As corruption case looms in Sierra Leone … panic grips SLRTC

Following the Auditor General’s Report 2011, over monies allegedly squandered by officials of the Sierra Leone Road Transport Corporation (SLRTC), panic is reported to have gripped the administration.

According to sources close to the Anti Corruption Commission (ACC), heads are about to roll for embezzling  a huge sum of money that cannot be accounted for.

Sources further confide that the head of the corporation, Mr. Bockarie Lewis Kamara has been accused of financial impropriety.

His close ties with the ruling All People’s Congress (APC) government coupled with his strong northern background and Diaspora connection had, from what this press has gathered so far, helped him in escaping the wrath of the ACC.

However, the Auditor General’s report, according to impeccable sources, will this time round, rope him and others for corruption.

The Finance Officer of the corporation Mrs. Mariatu Kabia may also be indicted by the ACC for allegedly squandering state funds with which she is said to be constructing a mansion in her village in Mabguraka, Tonkolili district.
