Alpha Kanu Admits in Public to Lying

Minister of Mineral Resources and Political Affairs Hon. Alpha Kanu last Friday admitted in public to being guilty of lying to cover up on certain issues in the execution of state duties, a confession which he made in front of the President of the Republic, the full charge of the country’s media and cross-section of government and civil society officials. The Hon Minister made the confession at official commissioning of Road construction exercise to be undertaken by one the biggest corporate companies in the country – African Minerals Ltd., where he served as the chairman of the occasion. The Minster whose duty on the occasion was executed with much eulogizing and wax-lyrics (jaliba) of the president and other prominent stakeholders at the occasion went off guard into indicting himself as guilty of lying whenever necessary to cover up certain issues that arrived in his line of duty, a pronouncement many have described as a manifestation of the guilt in most of our politicians of gross disingenuousness and artificiality in carrying out state and public functions.

Whilst the Minister was spellbound in his public confession of lying and insincerity and mendaciousness, he completely made attempts at exonerating the President of the Republic Dr. Ernest Koroma saying “he does not even know how to lie and have never ever told a lie” he stated to the full hearing of the president, the media and public that was present at the commissioning ceremony.

Senior members of the press and civil society were least impressed about the confessional outburst of the Mines Minster looking at it from the point of view that Hon. Alpha Kanu has been a long time government and party advocate of the APC “who knows how much lies he has been guilty of all these years,”  a renowned media practitioner said adding that “its those untold park of lies that he has been guilty of all these years that has eventually led to his confession of such sinful act in public and in the very presence  of his employer; the president of the republic”.

A Government Minister who was quizzed on the matter admitted that the incident was a bit embarrassing to the president as he visibly shifted in his seat whilst the Mines Minster went into his frenzy of self confession to lying in covering up messy issues whilst on duty to the government and the people of this country.

An Editor of one of the local tabloids in the country who was not surprised at the minister’s admittance to deceitfulness and untrustworthiness said “I have always noted that he does not take exception to lying, he would make use of any given opportunity to lie and twist things either in his interest on in the interest of the government and the APC; adding that what more credibility  and reliability could be found in somebody that publicly confesses to be dishonest, there is no honesty  in admitting to being dishonest” he told Sierra Express Media.
