Konsu takes the lead in MMCET

The Kono Students’ Union at Milton Margai College of Education And Technology (MMCET) has taken a bold step in sanitizing the college environment by providing three giants dustbins for use within the college campus. As “development is for man and of man”, said Julius K. Nyerere one time president of Tanzania, the pragmatic KONSU executive under the leadership of John Tamba Lebbie and John T.K Kaimachende at Congo Cross campus have seen it timely and appropriate to lobby to the Freetown City Council and its Waste Management Company (FWMC) to extend their arm of keeping the City clean by providing three giant wheel dustbins for the entire students on campus.

The vice president of KONSU MMCET Congo Cross Campus John T.K Kaimachende in a handing over ceremony to the Students’ Union body and the College administration on the 16th of December 2009, told those who witness this spectacular event that this is one of KONSU’s activities and a tip of the iceberg of what they intend to do for the welfare of students. In receiving these dustbins from KONSU, on behalf of the entire SU body and administration at Congo Cross Campus, the governor Mr. Vidal Johnson lavished praise and appreciation on the KONSU executive for their monumental effort made in providing these three dustbins to maintain sanity on campus. In the same vein to commend the KONSU executive, Mr. Gary S. Waritay congratulated and buttressed that the dustbins will be used for their intended purpose.

Giving the vote of thanks on behalf of the SU government at Congo Cross Campus, the Information Minister, Mr. Hassan Rogers thanked the KONSU members for their laudable effort and admonished other district Students’ Unions to emulate and replicate the good work of KONSU.

In an exclusive interview with the KONSU executive, V.P Kaimachende said this is just the genesis of the developmental plans of KONSU as there’s a plethora of development plans in their agenda for Congo Cross Campus. He added that come this year, 2010 God being their helper they will be engaged in fixing the bumpy road leading to the College Campus for the convenience of students and other visitors. Speaking to Sierra Express Media, the calculative Financial Secretary of KONSU, Mr. Tamba Ansumana said they are towing the line of other progressive SU bodies like F.B.C and IPAM. He further added that KONSU-MMCET has come on board in achieving the dream of students at MMCET Congo Cross Campus.

Finally, the indefatigable executive members of KONSU-MMCET wish to inform KONSU membership in its entirety that come December 27th to 30th 2010 they will be holding their Annual Executive Convention and that they are fervently believe that with their vibrant candidate Mr. Emmanuel Jimissa, the leadership of KONSU national is all theirs. According to the pen pusher of KONSU-MMCET Mr. Magnus P.T Lamina said that they are going to cling to the KONSU leadership not by chance but through design as they are now ripe for that position which they have been marginalized for too long now.
