Army Officer Sent to Prison

Military officer SLA 181688 Tommy Bangura of Block I32 Wilberforce Barracks was arraigned before Magistrate Komba Kamanda of Court No2 on a one count charge of receiving stolen goods contrary to section 33 (1) of the larceny Act 1916 of which he pleaded guilty.

According to the particulars of the offence, Tommy Bangura received properties from the accused person Ibrahim Gassama, a mason, who on Wednesday 14th November 2012 at the Sierra Leone Squash Association office at Wilberforce with intent to steal, broke in and entered into the company office and pilfered fourteen white plastic chairs, one Sharp television set, one satellite decoder, two remote controls, one without battery, one pair white shoes, one pair scissors, a total of Le8.11 million. The military officer bought these stolen items from the accused person Ibrahim Gassama.

Magistrate Kamanda ruled that that the military personnel received the stolen items from a thief knowing fully well that the accused person is a mason. Sergeant 721 Conteh .S is prosecuting and the matter was adjourned to the 10th December.
