Sierra Leone ranks second among low-income countries in providing checks on government power

Sierra Leone ranks second among 15 low-income countries, and fifth in Sub-Saharan Africa, in providing effective checks on government power, according to the World Justice Project’s Rule of Law Index 2012 report. The report, which was released on November 28th, provides country-by-country scores and rankings for eight areas of the rule of law, and is the product of interviewing 97,000 people and more than 2,500 experts around the world.
