Big Fight at Health Ministry – Deputy Minister Complains To President Koroma

Reliable sources within the Ministry of Health and Sanitation have said that the current Deputy Minister, Mohamed D. Koroma has strongly recommended to President Koroma to relieve all senior “Mende” officials in the ministry of their duties.

According to the sources, the names of the following officials have already been submitted to the President for immediate action: The Internal Auditor, SNK Lansana, Procurement Manager, Mohamed Kallon, Management Accountant, Albert Patewa, Victor Milton, Acting Architectural and Michael Amara, Economist.

The reasons, according to the sources, are that: “most of the donor funds coming are always being misappropriated by these Mende officials” and that these officials are “staunch supporters of the opposition, SLPP who are empowering the opposition ahead of the 2012 elections.”
The minister is also reported to be angry with these officials who he said: “are working in collaboration with some officials at the Procurement Office in the award of contracts to SLPP sympathizers.”

According to an official in the ministry, Mohamed Koroma is doing all he can to impress the President so that he can be given a full ministerial job. The source also alleged that he wants to enrich himself before 2012 elections.

When contacted for his version, Mohamed D. Koroma refused to comment.

It could be recalled that, since the Minister of Health, Sheku Koroma was removed from office, the Vice President; Sahr Samuel Sumana is still overseeing the day to day activities of the ministry.
