The Deputy Minister of Health II, Mahmoud Tarawallie has purchased a generator for the provision of electricity in Port Loko District with the first phase of the project benefitting Old Port Loko Town to Agip Central for the township to regain its past glory.

Electricity ceased in the township in 1989.

The Deputy Minister recalled that “when he was a pupil in the 1980s, he and his colleagues used to study under streetlights pointing out that he could no longer enjoy the benefits of electricity alone, the reason for the move to extend the facility to the township to enhance the standard of living of the people.”

He continued that the generator would provide electricity until the Bankasoka Hydro-Electric Dam is completed for which he appealed to the people to vote President Ernest Bai Koroma for a second term to actualize his Agenda for Prosperity.

All Peoples Congress (APC) candidates for Constituency 049, Alhaji Dr. Chernor Dumbuya acclaimed the Minister for his relentless efforts to develop the township underscoring that he is impressed with the development and declared his unflinching support to the Minister.

Sulaiman Sesay, a youth in the township said the Minister has within a very short time created impact in the district than all the other prominent politicians and appealed to them to emulate his sterling example and patriotism reiterating that the onus to developing the country rests with Sierra Leoneans.

He continued that due to its impressive performance, people in the township have unanimously resolved to vote for the APC reiterating that the party is development-oriented and is people-centered.

Other stakeholders made similar statements while singing of songs in praise of the APC climaxed the event.
