APC Rally: “Red Sea” Spreads Over Land in Sierra Leone
The All People’s Congress Party (APC) succeeded in streaming a “Red Sea” political campaign rally on Tuesday October 30th, in the capital, Freetown. The Tuesday rally was second void of chaotic scenery of most major exercises the APC has engaged in so far in the Western Area as a mass number of party loyalists and sympathizers thronged the various streets of Freetown.
Political pundits are quick to have said the peaceful nature of the APC rallies in the capital depicts the discipline and – how organized the APC is in terms of crowding order and control.
Much fanfare was recorded in the blights of sceneries wherein the APC presidential candidates burst out in the rallying crowd receiving “World Best” as accolades charging the leadership prowess of President Ernest Bai Koroma and Vice President Sam Sumana, which is likened to footballing heroes of Barcelona and Argentina’s Lionel Messi and Real Madrid and Portugal’s C. Ronaldo.
Football is assimilated in the politics of Sierra Leone much that its formatting clues are used in the various campaigning jargons in the build up to the November 17 multi-tier elections.
Violence has been the watch word and is being refereed variously by world ruling governing bodies of the International Criminal Court (ICC), the European Union Elections Observers Mission, the African Union Observers Unit, the local National Elections Watch and related media bodies – serving as linesmen and setting spots to ensure a fair game.
Cross jibes and fans’ ranting behaviors were leveled to an uphill task as the campaigns proceeded. The marvel in all successes of organized rallies the APC has recorded, share a structural order in the way the organizers in charge have handled the processes so far.
Alhaji Usman Boie Kamara, the Western Area Coordinator for the Presidential Task Force Committee for the 2012 elections and his working team known as the Western Area Campaign Team, planned and strategized the Tuesday rally in divisional sequence. Things were spiced more with the strong organizing abilities of the Western Area APC Campaign Chairman, Mr. Minkailu Mansaray and his able-bodied Deputy, Captain Mamadu Alieu Pat-Sowe, including Sanusi Kargbo commonly known as Bruski, the Western Area Youth Chairman and also able-men like Ibrahim Mansaray aka General Washingie and others, who were very instrumental in the organization process. The team did not only ensure that the rally was a success, but saw through every other procedure during the event. The Political Messi, otherwise known as “World Best” in the person of President Koroma, started off this time from the east end of the Western Area, trekking down to the nerve centre of Freetown via the historic Cotton Tree and later down to the National Stadium main bowl in the Brookfields community. A span of orgy crowd had already crammed along the rallying routes. The “World Best” came along distributing over five hundred footballs to supporters in the capital, Freetown.
The Vice President, Chief Sam Sumana, on the other hand came off from the West End of the Western Urban area galvanizing various support groups as he also dished out over 200 footballs using the slogan: “No Run-off”.
Put into the political parlance of the country, the combative merger of center-forward, VP Sam Sumana, otherwise known as political C. Ronaldo and shadow (9) political Messi, formed a potent striking force for a convincing victory in the EL-Classico November 17 multi-tier elections match.
It is crystal clear, directly referencing the president’s campaign slogan: “Action Pass Intention”, that the promotion of football in Sierra Leone will be a priority area in his agenda for prosperity. Widespread appreciation in this awareness campaign for soccer is putting the president in a more advantageous position in the coming elections.
All hails on how the “Red Sea” rally was conducted squarely rested on the selfless nature of Alhaji Usman Boie Kamara, who is nothing but a blessing in entirety for the APC now and the near future. To say the latter is a crowd puller would be an understatement – he is a crowd himself.
At some stage he thought of having a style that would deter a random rally. In constant thought of the fact that Freetown is a hub center of commerce, he said it would be expedient to observe their rally without hindering the commercial activities of the day. Himself a crowned father of a Trade Union organization called (FAMBUL), he ensured that the rallying crowd avoided business areas identified as hot-spots.
Moreover, the various organizing committees put into use the coinage of religious and moral views in controlling the grandeur of music also – but not enough for people’s outflow with opposing comments. Now, it is clear from the crowd that turned up that the current team of the APC is enjoying a fleet of appreciation from the masses.
The president himself is confident that he has delivered in his first five years in office for which he deserves a second term. His message at the National Stadium spread a challenge that if the masses vote him in in the November 17 elections, Sierra Leone is set for a full journey to become a paradise on earth.
