In his address, Sam Franklyn Gibson lauded the various speakers and recalled 18th September, 2012 when he contested for the position and declared winner among the seven aspirants for the party symbol.

He declared, “my victory goes to all APC and non-APC supporters. My determination is to transform the city, a dream that will be achieved through the grace of God and the cooperation of all stakeholders.”

The APC Mayoral candidate further pledged that he would work hard to advance the developmental aspirations of President Ernest Bai Koroma asserting that as the first gentleman of the city, he would want to leave a legacy by transforming the city to its past glory as the Athens of Africa.

He went on to apologize to those he may have offended knowingly or unknowingly and pledged to reconcile with all within and outside the party.

Hon. Chernor R. M. Bah, APC parliamentary candidate for Constituency 110 in Freetown, who chaired the ceremony, stated that the party has unique methods of winning elections for which it is always attracted to the people.

He further disclosed that the party’s slogan for the 2012 campaign in the Western Area is ‘four for four’ meaning, ‘one President, one Mayor, One District Council Chairman and one Member of Parliament for each of the twenty-one (21) constituencies stressing, “vote four for four as APC is a grassroots party that caters for all.”

Dennis Oju Williams, one of the former contestants said Sam Franklyn Gibson encourages all tribes and classes of people and called on supporters to vote for him and the APC disclosing that he was the most popular among the aspirants and vowed that they would give him their unflinching support.

The Campaign Strategist for the Mayoral candidate, Winston Ojukutu Macauley Jr., another former contestant observed that some people were anticipating intra-party impasse in the wake of the award of the symbol to aspirants and described Sam Franklyn Gibson as a disciplinarian who would instill order in residents in the municipality.

Another former aspirant, Reverend Roland Bankole Gibson stated that the APC is a family party asserting that there is only one winner in any race and maintained that power comes from God stressing that this is the time for Bode to administer the city and urged all to overwhelmingly vote for him.

Western Rural District Council Chairman, Alhassan Cole revealed that Hon. Chernor Bah has already won the election in Constituency 110 and described President Ernest Bai Koroma as ‘Ernest, Action; Bai, Progress; Obama, Development and Koroma, Prosperity.’

Similar sentiments were made by among others the former Acting Mayor, Alhaji Gibril I. B. Kanu, Aminata Gibril Sesay and the APC councilor candidate for Constituency 110.

The party’s Western Region Campaign Manager, Momodu Alieu Pat-Sow, officially launched the campaign.
