217 Sierra Leoneans Gain Employments in Kuwait

The Embassy of the Republic of Sierra Leone in the State of Kuwait under the leadership of His Excellency Ambassador Ibrahim Bakarr Kamara (in photo), has facilitated employments for 217 Sierra Leoneans to work at the renowned TANZIFCO Company in Kuwait City.

It would be recalled that the Embassy of the Republic of Sierra Leone in the State of Kuwait was established in 2009 with the aim to strengthen bilateral relations between the Republic of Sierra Leone and the State of Kuwait.

In May 2010, His Excellency Dr. Ernest Bai Koroma was invited by His Highness Sheikh Sabah Al-Jaber Al-Ahmed Al-Sabah, the Amir of the State of Kuwait. During His Excellency’s three days official visit, several bilateral agreements were signed between Sierra Leone and Kuwait.

The indefatigable Ambassador and Embassy staff did not only pursue the implementation of the signed Agreements, but continued to rebrand Sierra Leone in that Gulf state and beyond.

Through the Embassy’s participation in exhibitions and other activities, several investment companies have been attracted and some have already started investment in the country.  The Safe Way Mining and Oil Investment is one such case to note.

In a telephone interview last night, the Head of Chancery, Mohamed Sorie Conteh says on behalf of the Ambassador that the Embassy is not only limiting its efforts to attract investments to Sierra Leone, but also working towards the realization of the vision of His Excellency Dr. Ernest Bai Koroma’s Agenda for youth employment.

Conteh reiterated that: “Our Mission though not a recruiting Agency, but has facilitated the recruitment of Sierra Leoneans to work in Kuwait at no cost through the Ministry of Labour in Sierra Leone.”

He added that: “Several companies have expressed desire to recruit Sierra Leoneans, but the General Manager of Tanzifco, Mr. Mustapha Alayan has manifested his interest through regular visits to the Embassy.  After a due diligence on his person and corporate outfit, we encouraged him to visit Sierra Leone.”

“In October 2011, the General Manager visited Sierra Leone and held meetings with the then Minister of Labour, Honourable Hindolo S. Tyre and other stakeholders,” the dynamic Head of Chancery explained.

After these meetings, Conteh continued, the General Manager appointed ASSASI Company as agent to collaborate with the Ministry of Labour and Industrial Relations on recruitment of prospective Sierra Leoneans.

“The Company, through their designated agent in Freetown, has recruited a total of 217 Sierra Leoneans for jobs in the State of Kuwait.”
