When the President of Sierra Leone decides to keep to his word

The celebration is ended, the dancers have returned to roost and the dust is settled. Amidst thunderous applause and flattering fanfare, the colours swathed as if the rainbow itself was descending down to earth. Yes it is victory at its best.

Interestingly the galore of developmental push that was postulated by the President coupled with the somber mood that clouded the faces of honorable members of parliament was harder to come to terms with.

Some members of the redundant parliament will definitely no longer darken the wells of the honorable house except otherwise on visits. We say kudos to them for their unrestrained stewardship over the past five years. Time has been taken and time has also been spent but much there is to point at, as was demonstrated by President Koroma when he catalogued his hard won achievements for both the august parliament and the whole world to ascertain the potency of his claims.

The President’s address to parliament yesterday is worth much more than what he actually promised to do when he assumed the reins of office in September 2007. A seemingly unending list ranging from Agriculture to Healthcare, Education, Infrastructure, Energy, Economic stability, Employment opportunities and international investments, and a host of other goodies.

Admiring his theories it quotes, ‘having laid the foundations of the transformation in the last five years, the APC government is now moving onto the Agenda for Prosperity. This agenda for prosperity builds on the agenda for change, and prioritizes a diversified, inclusive, and competitive economy, a caring society with greater access to quality education and health care, job opportunities and social protection, sustainable management and people centered investment of the projected increase of revenue from natural resources and an accountable service delivery focused public sector.

Mr. President is up to the task and therefore deserves a second term!
