NDA Flagbearer Slams Criminal Element

One of the presidential hopefuls for the November 17 multi-tier elections, Mohamed Pateh-Bah (in photo) told journalists in Freetown that he was about to fix the losing coil in the National Democratic Alliance (NDA), following conflicting tendencies emerging from his endorsement as flagbearer of the party and a recent midnight convention some party caucus held to declare Alhaji Wurrie Musidal Jalloh as the opposing flagbearer to his contention.

He spoke to journalists on Tuesday September 18 at the Sierra Leone Association of Journalist’s (SLAJ) Harry Yansaneh Memorial hall headquarters condemning that certain criminal elements within his party are in for wrong gains in trading misguided ideologies that are alien to the democratic culture of the party.

According to him, the said criminal elements he mentioned boycotted the delegates’ conference party scheduled for Kenema in early September where he was endorsed by a total number of 350 national delegates across the region out of a total number of 450 delegates that were supposed to partake in the process.

“I received a letter upon arriving from the convention in Kenema that I have been expelled from the party, which was not surprising to me because I saw it coming a few moments before we left for the convention in Kenema”, he stated.

Pateh-Bah said he is ready now more than ever to sweep the feet of these criminal elements with a fierce revolution that will fix the party to its original stand views as he found it strange to articulate what gains the current crop of affiliate members of the socialist movement are craving.

As far as he was concerned the current serving executive members of the NDA are all illegitimate to carryout functions of the party without first consolidating the required statutes of their constitution.

He affirms filling an injunction against his party in the court of Sierra Leone to seek interpretation of the contextual limit in the legal terms of the constitution.

Pateh also said the Political Parties Registration Commission (PPRC) had intervened and arbitrated between the disputing factions within the party but no resolute settlement had been reached. He condemned the extent by which the expulsion was done on his person by the party hierarchy as he stands out that no body would stop his democratic right from contesting the position of flagbearer position in the NDA as he is not ready any time soon to quit.

Less than two weeks before Mohamed Pateh Bah claimed he was endorsed by party caucus in Kenema, the man who nominated then Vice President Solomon Ekuma Berewa in the 2007 Makeni SLPP national delegates’ conference, Alhaji Wurrie Musidal Jalloh was elected flagbearer of NDA at the Changes International Complex winning 81 votes cast out of a total delegates list of 84. The margin outstretched the only female contestant Rachael Lagao with only 3 votes cast. Fellow flagbearer aspirant Abdulai Sheriff was also absent.
