Aid SL Mentors 250 Youths

Over 250 Youths are currently undergoing training on capacity building to promote and enhance youth in Business Development Service (BDS) at the National Stadium Swimming Pool, organized by Aid Sierra Leone.

Media Public Relations Officer, David Bangura in an exclusive interview with the Sierra Express Media intimated that Aid Sierra Leone is an Advocacy in Partnership and Development Sierra Leone (AID-S/L) is a non political non Governmental and non profit making and it is a social organization working to meet the needs of humanity within and out of Sierra Leone, established in sixteen countries since in 2000. The training is aimed at empowering young people in the Western Area on BDS. He also noted that the program is funded by UNDP and is targeting youths between the ages of 15 to 35 years as they are the direct beneficiaries adding that the people that are training are people with existing businesses and those intending to go into business as entrepreneurship, Business Management, Financial Management and Business Facilitation.

He disclosed that the training is a two phase track approach as 70 people will benefit from Advance ICT training adding that Phase 1 will target 150 youths and will last for two weeks while Phase 2 will target 100 youths for another two weeks after which twelve people will benefit from loan on the basis of their project proposals. The Media Relations Officer further disclosed that the entire project will last for six months as it commenced in June this year and will end in December.

He said that the Goal of the program is to see and ensure very successful entrepreneurship and both the small and medium businesses grow from a base line to a mile stone. The criteria set up to choose these youths are the age bracket, business men and academics. He said that their will be a proper monitoring mechanism that will fully monitor the affairs of these youths in order for the project to be sustainable.
