New Holland Displays New Fuel Efficient All-rounder TD5 Tractor at Pretoria Spring Show

JOHANNESBURG, South Africa – (September 11, 2012) – New Holland Agriculture, together with its distributor New Holland South Africa, showcased its full range of tractors and harvesting equipment at the Spring Show from the 1st to the 6th of September at the Tshwane Events Centre in Pretoria, in the northern part of South Africa.  (Photo: The New Holland SA Team)

The TD5 Series takes center stage

The focus of the show for New Holland was on the new TD5 tractor, which was the star of a launch event. The farmers invited to the event were very impressed with the new series, whose three key models range from 66 to 83kW.

Ockert Scheepers, Tractor Product Manager at New Holland South Africa, is very pleased with the success of the launch event and the attention the TD5 received at the show: “The TD5 attracted a lot of interest from our guests and from visitors to our stand, and deservedly so. This series is the perfect answer to South African farmers’ requirements in this power segment: a tractor that combines fuel efficiency, high performance and exceptional comfort while offering a wide range of options, capable of different tasks around the farm – a true all-rounder.”

Tractors in this power segment are used not only in the field for draft applications, but also in the feedlots and in livestock applications, so attachments like a front loader are critical.

“The TD5 is the only tractor that really answers all the demands in this tough horse power segment, with a tractor right for any application,” explained Ockert. “It offers superior performance, with the latest Tier 3 engine technology, delivering up to 16% increase in torque, whilst boasting up to 10% fuel savings versus the previous TDD model.”

The TD5 is available in both Cab and ROPS configurations, both coming with a flat deck with suspended pedals.

Operator comfort and ergonomics are also unmatched, with a completely redesigned controls layout. The new VisionView™ cab increases visibility and reduces noise levels by up to 50% compared to the previous model.

A special feature also newly offered on the TD5 Range is the Powershuttle, which is perfect for precision loader work. For the first time, New Holland offers a factory fitted front loader specifically designed for the TD5.

Ockert added: “The new TD5 range features a new class-leading, range topping 83 kW model, deeply rooted in the tradition and leadership of the legendary New Holland 110-90 model. Packed into an upgraded, great looking, distinctive ‘cat eye’ styling, New Holland is definitely shifting the boundaries in this important segment with this game changer!”

A product offering for South African farming

New Holland’s full product offering is able to meet the different needs of South Africa’s diverse farming conditions: from the numerous upcoming farmers with small plots of land that want to mechanise their operations, who mostly require basic, robust mechanical technology in smaller horse power tractors, to the higher horse power segment where farmers embrace cutting edge technologies like Precision Farming to increase yields and returns.

South African farmers today deal with very tough challenges, and are constantly under pressure to increase output to counter rises in input costs. For this reason, they follow a no-nonsense approach when it comes to their requirements for agricultural machinery. “We at New Holland understand this,” explains Karl Engelbrecht, New Holland Tractor Product Marketing Manager. “We share a very rich history with South African farmers dating back many years, with our heritage rooted in the history of the agricultural equipment industry. We are constantly updating our offering to answer to the changing demands and new challenges, and 2012 is a good year for New Holland, launching two new ranges, namely the TT Compact and TD5.”

Service is critical

The extreme weather and persistent lack of rain force South African farmers to be very innovative in their approach, especially in preserving moisture and utilising short planting windows. To deal with these challenges, farmers need to rely on reliable and robust equipment that delivers best-in-class performance, as well as a support network of service backup to keep the machines running around the clock.

“New Holland South Africa is supported by its excellent network of committed dealers, and this outstanding backup, combined with New Holland’s truly full liner offering of equipment, enables us to maintain our leading position as the preferred agricultural equipment supplier to South African farmers,” concluded Ockert Scheepers.
