15 Year-Old Boy Poison’s Father

Monday 10^th, September a 15 year old boy named Augustine Gullama, a class three pupil of the Government Municipal Secondary School, Kissy Dock-Yard, attempted to poison his father Augustine Gullama of 56 Jenner-Wright Road.

The father is Branch Manager of LAPO Micro-Credit, in Kenema.

According to Augustine Gullama (Jr.), who is presently at the Family Support Unit, Ross Road Police Division, he explained that he had stolen money from his father, gave it to his biological mother named Magaret Stanley, who lives in Bo, because over what he called ill-treatment by his step-mother Mabinty Bangura.

He noted that each time he left home to his mother the father went to fetch him back home. He went on to say that he decided to poison his father owing to the ill treatment the step mother had put him through; starving him, waking him up in at ungodly hours to fetch water, whilst her children are left to roam freely.

He said his father seemed to act under a spell as he has suddenly gone blind to all the things that have happened around him and only acts on the orders of his wife. The son maintained that he had been getting angry over this situation and that was the reason he attempted to lace his father’s food with ‘Whitex’.

It is revealed that the concoction never acted on the intended victim as it turned out that the elder sister of Augustine happened to consume the food after she had returned from a long journey all the way from Mattru Jung to visit the family in Freetown.

The elder sister noticed a strong odor in the food and her mouth was getting sore, she then noticed the Whitex so she spit the food out immediately and then the entire incident got blown out of proportion.

The matter is currently under investigation at the Ross Police Station under the Family Support Unit (FSU).
