New Envoys present credentials

Freetown, Sierra Leone, September 7th, 2012: His Excellency Dr Ernest Bai Koroma has received the Letters of Credence of four Ambassadors accredited to the Republic of Sierra Leone at the Credentials Hall, State House.   l-r Choi Jong-Hyun of Korea and President Koroma

At separate and brief accreditation ceremonies on Friday, September 7th in Freetown, the envoys expressed their desires and commitment to consolidate bilateral relations with the government and people of Sierra Leone, and paid glowing tributes to the President for the tremendous progress made in restoring peace and security, and rebuilding the economy since the end of the civil war a decade ago.

The envoys include Mr. Rajinder Bahagat of India, Marco Antonio Garcia Blanco of Mexico, Sr. Jorge Fernando Lefebre Nicolas of Cuba and Choi Jong-Hyun of Korea.

In reply to their presentation of credentials, President Dr Ernest Bai Koroma said that the relationship between Sierra Leone and their countries span over a very long period. He also expressed the hope that their appointments would further strengthen the strong bilateral relations between their countries and Sierra Leone, while thanking them for the timely and sustainable interventions they had made to the country during her trying times.

President Koroma also highlighted some key areas where cooperation between Sierra Leone and the four countries could better serve the interests of not just the people of Sierra Leone, but also the citizens of India, Cuba, the United Mexican States and Korea.

He profusely thanked the governments of the respective countries, and congratulated the envoys on their appointments, saying, “I hope you will find your accreditation to Sierra Leone a fruitful and rewarding experience.”
