“Man of the people” declares for Constituency 106

44 years old Osman T-mex Sesay is the latest to have declared to run for the position of councilor in Constituency 106, Ward 377 central 1 of the capital, Freetown.

Throngs of community persons made equal representation during the declaration ceremony at East-Brook Street via Fischer Street over the weekend. Ward 377 is no stranger to backward development as flooding due to the sea current during the rainy season is usual distress to the constituents. The moribund roads network and the filth sites at Susan’s Bay wharf have also been dastard.

Up against these challenges, Osman Sesay popularly known as T-mex emerged to provide solution to some of these late-rite developments. Several sentiments were disclosed about him during his declaration ceremony by members of the Sierra Leone United Boat Owners Association, representatives from Five Clan Social Club, Ordelay Society, Base Development Organization, Long Bench Dollars Association, Cap Sellers Association, Save the Children Organization, Rainbow Youths, Avaria United Sisters Organization, Customs Post Youths, The Dream Team, Soso Community, Fullah Panel, Themne Panel, Family Members, Themne Section Chief, The Therblig Jamaat, the Big Islam Jamaat, Jamaatul Iklas, Fullah Jamaat, Mabela Jamaat, Zonal Chairmen, Constituency Chairman and the Parliamentary aspirants Mr. Edward Coker and Mr. Kolleh Dumbuya.

Mr. Osman Sesay, the Councilor Aspirant said he was inspired to contest for the position by the community people in Ward 377 having realized that he could be a better choice to represent them at the council. T-Mex  said he believe his people must have noticed his long time contribution and participation in activities surrounding the development of the community. He said be believes God used the people to approach him on this all important venture of a task and God willing he has intentions to live up the task of providing the appropriate representation his people are yearning this time.

Before his declaration, Mr. Sesay has been a community activist, Acting Chairman of the Big Islam Jamaat in 2003-2004. He is a Foundation Member of the Sierra Leone United Boat Owners Association (SLUBOA), Served as Safety and Security Manager, Liaison Officer, Financial Secretary and Director of Transport under the same organization. He promoted the Khulafa’e Rashideen Islamic Primary School and had his immense contribution in social activities around his community. He was the first to have contributed twenty bags of cements for the construction of feeder roads at the Susan’s Bay wharf and long steps and has been Vice Chairperson of the Wash Committee, which initiated the idea of establishing water taps for the provision of safe a pure drinking water in the various communities in central Freetown.

Keynote speaker during the occasion was Mr. Sheku Tejan Turay. He called on the community people to give their fullest support to Mr. Osman T-Mex Sesay banking on the fact that he is chosen by them. He said by all indications, from the look of things if all what was said about Mr. Osman T-Mex Sesay was correct, he is no doubt the person to lead that community off its major problems they’ve been faced in the past.

President of the Sierra Leone United Boat Owners Association PC Bai Shebora N’Lion II said Mr. Osman T-Mex Sesay is diligent and hardworking young man who has served his community in various diverse ways both in his serving capacities in the positions he has held in the association and in the youths’ social circle as well as in his Muslim fundamentalism.

Prominent members of the Sierra Leone People’s Party including the Deputy National Chairman/Leader Somano Kapen, Hon. Musa Tamba Sam of the elections coordination committee of the SLPP and others attended the ceremony.

Since becoming a member of the Sierra Leone People’s Party in 1995, Osman T-Mex Sesay has been an active participant of party activities and has served in various positions including being the party’s Young Generation Leader for Ward 377, Party Agent in 2002-2007 and is also the Young Generation Leader for the Themne Panel of the SLPP.
