Rev. Bankole Declares For Mayoral Seat

Pastor Rowland Bankole Gibson (in photo), on Friday August 10th officially declared his political aspiration for symbol to vie for the mayoral position in the November polls under the All People’s Congress Party (APC) at the Harry Yansaneh Hall, 56 Campbell Street, Freetown.

In his declaration statement, the man of God said this position is a very vital one to the people of Freetown, it is the engine to drive the policies of the central government in improving the lives and welfare of the people.

He noted that if the Freetown City Council is to exhibit its fullest potential there is a need to inject fresh ideas from people like him, who has dedicated his life working for God and other people. He stated that this generation is unique and is angry to join the global village in the march towards prosperity with the wealth of opportunities and challenges, and needs men of a high caliber and morals to lead them to this path-way.

Pastor Gibson revealed that he is fully aware of the opportunities and challenges that go with the office of Mayor, and with his level of education, training and experience as an administrator, an accountant, and a true servant of God, he is uniquely equipped and the fittest amongst the many contestants to handle that position.

Reverend Bankole, went on to present an insight into the strategies, policies, and programmes he has designed if elected as the Mayor of Freetown; outlining four priority areas:

  1. Proper Council Governance – This reform will focus on human resource management, a functional review of key departments, financial management and control.
  2. Public Health and Sanitation – The objective of my public health and sanitation programme will be to have a safe and healthy environment for the people of Freetown, and to enhance and protect the health and environmental well-being of the area.
  3. Infrastructure – The maintenance of existing infrastructure, and the construction of new ones.
  4. Effective Social Service Delivery – Our cemeteries will be properly cared for to give our beloved departed a befitting resting place, our markets and public places will be regularly cleaned to prevent outbreak of disease such as cholera.

He concluded by saying that he will work in the interest of all people.
