Salone athletes to cast their votes during the IOC Athletes Commission Election

The election is to elect 21 athletes that will represent the athletes within the Olympic Movement for eight years with the current members who have all finished their term of office.

According to the information gathered by this medium each voter will be asked to select four candidates from different sports to ensure a varied representation from the Olympic sports programme and the result will be announced on 9th August 2012 at 2pm in the International Zone in the Olympic Village.

Voting offices will be set up in the Olympic Village in London, the Olympic Sailing Village and the Olympic Rowing and Canoe Sprint Village as well as in the cities hosting the football competitions.

The IOC Athletes Commission was created in 1981 to give a voice within the Olympic Movement to the athletes.  Led by its chairman, who has a place on the IOC Executive Board, the 20 member Commission represents the athletes and upholds their rights and obligations.

According to the information the IOC athletes Commission makes recommendations to and participates in the IOCs main commissions and working groups.

The commission also work in liaison with the athletes ‘commission of the National Olympic Committees (NOCs) and International Federations(Ifs),Continental Associations, International Paralympics Committee(IPC) and World Anti-Doping Agency(WADA) and they also raises awareness among athletes of the fight against doping and host of other things.
