42 Ambushes for Armed Robbers

Director of Operations at the Sierra Leone Police Headquarters in Freetown, AIG AL-Sheik Kamara told reporters in a briefing on Thursday July 26 that a total of 42 ambush points have been set up along boundary routes into the capital of Freetown, ahead of the November 17 2012 multiple national elections.

The SLP, he continued, has also set up several division sectors in an effort to tackle the armed robbery syndicates in Freetown.

AIG Al-Sheik Kamara noted that the object of setting the said checkpoints is to heighten the fight against crime proliferation as the SLP is determined more than before to keep security watertight in the country, including lives and property.

In another development the Director of Community Affairs, AIG Elizabeth Turay said the Community Relations Department (CRD) will soon commence outreach activities to members of the public to raise the level of awareness on police operations and laws.

AIG Elizabeth Turay said the outreach activities will be done in line with the police civilians’ partnership board.  She called on every citizen to cooperate with the SLP in providing timely information tips on issues relating to security of state.
