President Macky Sall marks 100 days in office

‘Senegal shall not compromise terrorist activities”— Foreign Minister

Speaking, to members of the Diplomatic and Consular Corps and representatives of International  Organizations accredited to Senegal on the occasion of the 100 days in office, at the Flamboyant  Hall of the King Fahd’s Palace Hotel in Dakar, yesterday, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Senegalese Abroad Alioune Badara Cisse, catalogued President Sall and his government’s achievements so far, since assuming office and the steps taken to promote and up hold  democratic tenets, not only for Senegal and the West African Region but for Africa and beyond as a whole.

The Foreign Minister, Alioune Badara Cisses informed the Diplomatic Corps that Senegal is practically stable, thus the marked of gradual growth. “Security is paramount and my government will pursue it to the last” he stated. President Sall he informed has since taking up office, done his best to bring peace to the troubled States of Mali and Guinea Bissau and stood firm on the need for Senegal to continue, contributing to International Peace.

He assured members of the Diplomatic and Consular Corps, that his government is committed to ECOWAS, African Union, the European Union, Arab League and all other related International Institutions of peace, democracy and development.

He further said “Senegal, under President Macky Sall, will strongly frown on all terrorist activities from whatever quarters and distance and would stand firmly behind democratic principles” the Minister reiterated said Minister Cisse. He said government has taken the necessary steps to look into prices of essentials commodities, fight against corruption and put forward the necessary modalities to promote and maintain democracy for, by and of the people.

Minister Cisse, deliberated on President Sall’s promise to end the debate over the presidential mandate by limiting it to five years from the previous seven years and renewable only once and that he would employ every constitutional means possible to prevent future generation from tampering with it.

“By and large” the writer observes that “Senegal is as of now, no doubt politically and other wise stable and though we are in the rains, the celestial sun is still out every day shinning in the capital, Dakar and the weather is doubtless humid, especially at night”.
