Our youths please!

Our youths please!

At a cross point we have two feet tongues tied here. Mr. President – don’t take light the issue of youths – especially those with various potentials, who also have had time out there honoring patriotic services.

Also Mr. President, you should find means and ways out to fish youths with potentials from the vicious circles of poverty due to failure to engage them into different ventures.

As a standpoint, Sierra Express Media stands to argue out that – political phrases and plume promises are not enough to contain the issues of our youths in present day Sierra Leone. This is noted on – the back drop of recent igniting and looming attitudes – the youths kind of put up in demand for their various entitlements.

First it was a cross section of bike riders who have a heavy quantum of ex-combatants that rose with obesity to complain unfair treatments meted out to them by the police and related sectors. It has to be said that the government is unable to employ everyone and for economic reason(s) they rise equal to the task to provide alternatives for their sources of income.

Earlier we had a drain of alternatives that soiled the crime scene of banditry and robbery since employment was not enough to provide earning alternatives from which the youths could eke their sustenance.

In this light, these youths have decided to conquer the evasion of temptations and most are now self-employed. Mr. President take-off the slightest of incitements from any individual with the wherewithal to span unrest and allow regulated freedom to take control of the affairs of the youths.

Second we have seen a group of protesters in the past two weeks in errant display of dissatisfaction over the manner in which their gratuity, benefit and pension issues were handled.

This group has to be members of ex-service men in the republic of Sierra Leone Armed Forces.

We don’t want to discuss the merits of their dismissal from the army, rather, what we deem necessary enough is the fulfillment of their post service clauses which deserve them the right to claim benefit, pension and gratuity.

We noticed that the issue has taken the tailings of politics into focus for a subtle blackmail. What is very sensitive in Sierra Leone of late is the politicization of every span of issue aboard. Often, it is done on one solid faith, which is the concern for votes. The youths are quiet so knowledgeable of the fact that they could easily gain point, if they threaten – not voting for politicians.

Out of these gimmicks, we believe that the government needs to take up most of these wake-up calls to ensure that those Caesars remain Caesar; and the government remains government.

Elections are right here, and for the sake of Sierra Leone’s peace and tranquility all those negative trends should be waded off in other to give peace a chance.
