Gullah Foundation Sign Communiqué with SLP

Gullah Kinship Foundation Sierra Leone has signed a communiqué with the rank of the Sierra Leone police denouncing violence in the upcoming election.

As the elections slated for Novembers this year are drawing closer, the question of restoring sanity to irate youths is on the mind of every Sierra Leonean.

The Gullah Kinship Foundation on Wednesday June 13th signed a communique with the Sierra Leone Police at their office headquarters at George Street to mark a clean slate of a violence free election come 2012. The occasion was honored by the Inspector General of Police Francis Allieu Munu who assured the Gullah Foundation of the police’s support to hold on to their own bargain of the communique.

Deputy Chairman, Mohamed Lamin Kamara of Gullah Foundation revealed as at press hour that they decided to pen down the police to this agreement as they have been doing with other institutions responsible to restore hope back to the society at large. He said amongst other things that such common agreement will serve as reminder to parties that might be tempted to provoke, ignite or incite conflicts; chaos and anarchy come the November polls.

Mr. Kamara emphasized that the youths of this country have a greater role to play by shelving away riotous conduct as he said they are the vulnerable ones. He noted also that due to their youthful exuberance, unscrupulous politicians normally attempt to plant seeds of discord so as to distract them from making responsible decisions.

He advised all to stay clear of petty squabbles that have the propensity to provoke violence, and call on all to help prosecute any body found igniting or celebrating violence.
