Mighty Blackpool fans return to stand 17

Fans of Mighty Blackpool FC have returned to their traditional ‘stand 17’ at the National Stadium main bowl in Freetown.

The fans expressed their happy mood as they said they are always happy and comfortable at stand 17 where they have always maintained as their team bags silver wares.

Mighty Blackpool have won the league champions’ trophy more than any other football club in the country. They remain the only club that has reached the quarter-final stage of the African Club Champions League.

This history has suddenly changed as they are going for another trophy less season. In the past two seasons the club has been fighting to get out of the relegation zone.

Even when Prince Toe was sacked as head coach the situation still never improved. Again the fans demanded that the executive should give way to an interim body to run the club until they conduct elections.

In a peace meeting at the Defense Ministers Lodge, both parties agreed to work together and ensure that their fans return to their usual ‘stand 17’ where they use to get glories. The fans yielded to the advice of returning as they did during the match they coveted victory over their traditional arch rivals, East End Lions 1-0 on Sunday.

With this victory the fans have become more united than ever.  Blackpool will take on another rival Ports Authority FC tomorrow at the National Stadium.  Blackpool is one point above Ports and are determined to maintain the lead while the defending champions Ports are also determined to grab the three points!

Meanwhile in today’s match Central Parade will host Bo Rangers in Freetown, and Kenema Kamboi Eagles will host East End Lions. On Sunday kissy All Stars will host Gem Stars from Tongo at the national Stadium, Brookfields Freetown.
