Ambassador Abubakarr Multi-Kamara presents Letters of Credence To President Hu Jintao of the People’s Republic of China

Beijing, May 24th 2012 – His Excellency, Ambassador Abubakarr Multi-Kamara on Wednesday,23rd  May 2012, presented, to His Excellency, President Hu Jintao, President of the People’s Republic of China, the Letters of Credence accrediting him as Ambassador Extra-ordinary and Plenipotentiary to the People’s Republic of China, a month after his arrival in Beijing.

In a short ceremony held at the Great Hall of the People, in Beijing China, His Excellency President Hu Jintao, welcomed the new Ambassador and other diplomatic staff and expressed satisfaction with the relationship between the two countries, saying, Sierra Leone and the People’s Republic of China have enjoyed traditional friendship since both countries entered into diplomatic relations over forty years ago and that “this relationship has been smooth”.  He said, both countries have seen results in the cooperation ties in areas of agriculture, fisheries, trade and the economy, and that areas like health and education have continued to thrive between the two countries.

His Excellency Presidnet Hu Jintao also commended both countries for having respect for, and treating each other as equals and that China appreciates Sierra Leone’s commitment to the ‘one-china’ policy and for her support to China’s core interests. President Hu Jintao also expressed his country’s commitment to continue working with Sierra Leone in the areas of expanding on the cooperation ties between the two countries as China values the continued development of the existing relationship between the two countries.

He also extended his felicitations, through Ambassador Abubakarr Multi-Kamara to President Ernest Bai Koroma of Sierra Leone and wished the Ambassador success in his new assignment.

Responding, Ambassador Abubakarr Multi-Kamara conveyed heartfelt greetings and felicitations from His Excellency the President of Sierra Leone, Dr. Ernest Koroma, his Government and the people of Sierra Leone to President Hu Jintao, his Government and the people of the Peoples Republic of China.

Ambassador Multi-Kamara stated that his appointment as Ambassador to the People’s Republic of China was a deliberate action on the part of His Excellency, President Ernest Bai Koroma to restore the dignity of our long and special ties between the two countries and to also seek concrete and practical measures on how both countries could strengthen and deepen development to a much higher level.

Ambassador Abubakarr Multi-Kamara also re-affirmed Sierra Leone’s support to the ‘one-China’ policy and continued solidarity in matters of mutual and common interest. The Ambassador assured His Excellency, President Hu Jintao that with his years of service and experience, as both a Government and International civil servant, he would use his skills, expertise and exposure to strengthen existing ties between the two countries.
