Airtel celebrates independence with King George’s Home

Mobile telecommunications giant, Airtel, on April 28th, put a smile on the faces of the aged at King George’s Home, now relocated at Grafton, as part of the events marking their independence gifting schedule which they replicated in all regions of the country.

Speaking during the gifting event, Airtel’s Corporate Affairs Manager, June Rose-Johnson said she was delighted to be with the inmates of King George’s Home for the Aged as she prayed for their lasting relationship. As a company, she said, “we consider our corporate social responsibilities sacred and we will not relent in doing more”.

The Territorial Manager of Grafton, Joseph Saffa Tengbeh told the inmates of King George’s Home that Airtel has the aged at heart as he said the gift presentation is part of their manifestation to such commitment. He said they shall be checking from time to time to further asses their emerging needs.

Daniel Davies, Pastor in charge of the King George’s Home said the inmates are excited over Airtel’s gift donation and lauds that the gifting was done in time to give happiness to the inmates as the country celebrates its 51st, independence anniversary. He said Airtel has revitalized their hopes of commemorating a sound 51st Independence anniversary for which they owe them gratitude.

Treasurer of the King George’s Home, Mrs. Hannah Deen  thanked the Airtel family in happiness for their kind gesture. She pleaded with Sierra Leoneans to take their aged to the King George’s Home for the Aged where they are sure of having greater care and support theyrequire.

She pleaded with Airtel to help them with a few phones with which they can be able to communicate with each other easier. The aged issued a thank you card to Airtel as a sign of appreciation of their gift donation. A conducted tour was done later with staff of Airtel led by Mrs. Deen. The donation exercise was also replicated in Bo, Makeni, Kenema, and Kono to mark the independence anniversary celebration. The entire events cost Airtel almost $3,000.
