Razak emerges as people’s popular candidate

There is much to the person and character of Abdul Razak Bah. To those who may want to know and understand him, he is a studios man with a frank character. If Razak were to be a book, he surely would have solid ambiguities of literary elegance. He is known as a man of the people with a huge business clout. Promotion and sacrifice are the two vocabularies associated with him. He is a swift character and understands his mission, vision, aims, objectives, and goals.

As a person, he has a solemn religious life, he is charitable and approachable. Razak is a man who would not hurt someone else who may tempt his reaction, he will adjust and situate an atmosphere that will dump their tension and end in smiling.

As a bonus to his public life, he is known as a businessman who deals in goods including minerals like diamond, gold, platinum, silver, crude oil, and often also invests in agriculture, pharmaceuticals, and media as he owns a newspaper –The Examiner, schools and many major initiatives.

His company, TECSBACO International was credited to have been a leading minerals exporter with a chain of multi sectoral partners at home and abroad. TECSBACO was the indigenous company under Abdul Razak’s leadership as Managing Director which obtained the Mining Lease ML02 with the government of Sierra Leone to revamp the iron ore extraction in the Lunsar/Pepel axis with plans to clear the tailings and prepare it stock ready for export shipment, later brought London Mining to take over from them through their British born partner, Denis Frazer. This agreement saw Razak’s TECSBACO Company become a subsidiary company to London Mining, having completed a deed of transfer of their Lease in 2005.

When did he gain interest in politics?

Abdul Razak Bah began this journey in 1996 when the National Democratic Alliance was established. Razak became National and International Coordinator and has been doing the bulk the work to keep the party ongoing. At some stage, it appears as if the NDA was a prized asset Razak was protecting. It would cost him to abandon his offices most times to settle scores at the party’s headquarters at 5 Duke Street, via Circular Road, in Freetown.

Razak has never had a real time contesting for his political ambitions than now when he suddenly declared that he was going to contest for the Member of Parliament position of the Waterloo/Tombo, Western Area Rural District. Constituency 94, which comprises of five wards, ward 336-340 is besotted with challenges that are witnessing their low grade of development in all spheres. For example, the residents/inhabitants of this constituency are constrained of school facilities and life social amenities like good and safe drinking water, health centres, market places and the whole absurdity stretched from noticing a bugging life for the constituents. The joint peninsular community housed a wholesome settlement of anglers with buoyant commerce life that exploits most of their social facets. A visit to Tombo, for example will account the realization of naked spot of abject poverty in a geopolitical settlement that is playing host to almost fifteen major ethnic groups in the country. Tombo is a transit point and a centre hub for business which centre coordinates the suave of commercial entities that means a lot in number politics.

But a spot sites visits would let the understanding clear that poverty’s sheathe is laying bare for all to see. Girls and boys who are supposed to be of school going age have suddenly become fish mongers and fishermen and their worse abuse of intelligence is the laden filth engulfing the wharf site vicinity. Young and adults team up in defecating in the open air in the sprawling sea with pleasure drawing battle with swam of flies that come confronting their food. Young girls and boys of school going age rushed into shouldering the responsibility of becoming child parents with erosion of most major values that counted on their human face values.

Their complaints have been against Hon. Chuwkuma Johnson, who is representing that community. They accused him of complacence and not having them at heart as over the years since he represented them in the well of parliament, he was not able to construct any face value of development in that constituency. Good roads, transport facilities, school building facilities and microfinance aids have been among their requests and pleas. Razak started off by securing a hundred hectares of land for development purpose. He came into constituency 94 as a visionary who has answers to some of their cries said in a visit that the constituents’ trust and believe in him to represent them in the November 17 polls would prove as solution to most of these perennial problem that he can put to rest.
