Chinese to construct market in Freetown

The Chinese Ambassador to Sierra Leone his Excellency Kuang Weilin has promised that his government will build a market for Freetown. He said that he was very impressed with the hospitality shown to him at the Freetown City Council, and said the relationship between the Republic of Sierra Leone and the People’s Republic of China is now forty years old and that everything in his power will be done to further strengthen this bilateral relationship.

Ambassador Kuang Weilin assured the acting Mayor Alhaji Ibrahim Gabriel Kanu of his determination to carry through more development projects in Freetown including the construction of a municipal market.

Alhaji Kanu said that the Freetown City Council was much honored to receive such a honorable guest in the person of the Chinese Ambassador to the republic of Sierra Leone.

He went on to thank Ambassador Kuang Weilin and the people of the People’s Republic of China for the tremendous assistance they have rendered to this country particularly to Freetown.

The acting mayor underscored the determination of the Freetown City Council which he said is now heading to take the relationship between China and Sierra Leone to a new level.

He further appealed to his Excellency Kuang Weilin to continue his valuable assistance to the City Council, particularly, he said, in the areas of staff training and other technical assistance.

Acting deputy Chief Administration Mr. Claude Campbell also paid glowing tributes to the People’s Republic of China for “a job well done.”
