Political Parties sign peace communiqués

Political parties in Sierra Leone have signed a peace communiqué on February 28th, with the Gullah Kingship Association (GKA) on behalf of the nation as a way of committing themselves into violence free elections later this year.

The Deputy Chairman of the opposition Sierra Leone People Party PC Sommanoh Kapen, Claude Kamandah, Deputy Co-coordinator for the November pools of the All People’s Congress, (APC) Eddie Tayoh Temple, National Publicity Secretary, United Democratic Movement (UDM), Dr. Habit Sesay, Chairman, Peoples Movement for Democratic Change think tank and Mohamed .S. Jalloh, National Secretary General of the National Democratic Alliance have all signed on behalf of their respective political parties.

Pupils from various schools in the capital, Freetown and its environs made speeches on behalf of their colleagues during the occasion.

Their speeches inquire the minds of memories of those who have been without parents as a result of the eleven years civil war in the country. They said violence should not be encouraged in the country anymore as it would lead to the killing and suffering of many innocent lives in the country. They made the Bo, Kono and Freetown political violence as clear example in the recent past to have been indicators that are reflecting the past of 1991 rebel war in the country that metamorphosed into deadly crisis with debilitating effect.

They call on every Sierra Leonean to uphold peace and sanity and to refrain from acts of violence in the country.

The Chief of Staff, State House, Kelfala Marrah signed the peace communiqué on behalf of the President at State Avenue. He promised to relay the messes age to the president.
