APC Asia Branch jet into Sierra Leone to Register

Executive and ordinary members of the All Peoples Congress (APC) party Asia Branch are currently working on modalities to jet in Sierra Leone to register in the ongoing biometric voter registration process that is being conducted by the NEC. At present, a delegation has arrived in Sierra Leone from China, with others, working on modalities to arrive by the coming week, all in an effort to get the APC reelected for another term in office.

The decision by the Branch to go and register in Freetown came about as a result of the determination of members to ensure, President Ernest Bai Koroma, Leader of the Party is returned to State House come November when elections shall have been conducted.

APC Party members –  people’s  resolve will definitely make us win the elections

Making reference to the Secretary General of  the APC, Victor Bockarie Foe during his visits to China to launch the Branch, the Branch’s Chairman, Lamin Turay stated, that “our Secretary  General Victor Bockarie  Foe once  assured party members in Asia that the 2012 elections will be won by the APC and that the party  will win on a clean slate and in a transparent manner with no rigging… and if that is to happen, we need to put our efforts and resources together by not only mobilizing support for the Party and its Leader but by also taking the lead  by going to Sierra Leone and register and then vote in November…”

Speaking further, Chairman Turay revealed that the resolve of members both in the Diaspora and back home will see the APC winning the November elections, stating further that as party members,  “we cannot talk of taking the Leader back to State House and at the same time fail to register… we should been seen in Freetown and with that we are also sure of even encouraging other people, especially our relatives and party members to go out and register in large numbers.”  He also stated that it is the responsibility of every Sierra Leonean to exercise his or her democratic right by going to the polls.  The APC party, he said, believes in democracy and hard work. “It is our responsibility to remained united, move in line with the core values of the party and work hard to ensure, the good works that have been started by President Koroma be maintained even after the 2012 elections.

On his part, the Branch’s Secretary General Hamza Bangura said the formation of the Asia Branch of the APC is “symbolic and historic…” as the Asia continent has now engulfed the global human and socio-economic development in this 21st century. He said, Sierra Leone as a country is at a cross road and has got a leader that is dedicated to improving the lives and welfare of the ordinary Sierra Leonean.  “Failure to register therefore would not be in the interest of the country”, he opined.

The formation of the Asia Branch came about when five young and dedicated APC supporters came together with the idea of having the Branch in Asia, since Sierra Leone and China have had bilateral relations for over forty years and the APC has continued to have a cordial working relation with China since the days of late President Siaka Stevens.

It was on the 29th of September 2011 that a breakthrough was manifested when the Branch was accorded an official recognition by the National Advisory Council of the APC. The formation of the Branch, was, in the words of Hamza Bangura, “born out of the desire and aspiration to strengthen the party by creating its presence in Asia and contributes towards the coming elections.

Meanwhile, the APC Asia Branch has welcomed the appointment of Abu Bakarr Multi-Kamara as Ambassador to China. According to the Branch’s Secretariat in Beijing, the decision by President Koroma to appoint Ambassador Multi-Kamara came at a time when the country is yearning for socio-economic and infrastructural development. “We are therefore impressed with the decision of HE and we look forward to giving our support to the new Ambassador,” a statement from the Secretariat in Beijing stated.
