Patriotic Sierra Leoneans undertake infrastructural development

Prior to its official launching on January 5th, 2012 at the Miatta Conference Hall in Freetown, members of the Patriotic Sierra Leoneans have demonstrated their unreserved commitment to complement government’s effort in the area of spectacular infrastructural development. This undertaking by the Patriotic Sierra Leoneans made known on Monday the 5th January this year by showcasing their focus to uplift poor road conditions within the Goderich Community and beyond.  (Photo: Nanette Thomas making a statement before the cutting of the tape)

Their impressive pilot project which kicked-off with an un-motorable road, Tucker Drive that has been cut off from other Goderich Communities by an unsightful dustbin, received resident’s approval and commendation.

On why the Patriotic Sierra Leoneans is prioritizing the improvement of the Community roads network, President of Patriotic Sierra Leoneans; Mr. Mohamed Kamarainba divulged that as an organization, they believe that people’s welfare can not be maximized without safe and speedy transportation. He maintained that because of poor road conditions, consumers are not only contending exorbitant prices of goods and services, but are endangered to fatal accidents.

Mr. Kamarainba lamented over the condition of roads especially the ones linking to productive communities like Goderich which houses fishermen, quarries and other meaningful service providers mainly comprising of soldiers, teachers, nurses, drivers, politicians and civil servants among others. The President also revealed that like other residents living in poorly connected communities, inhabitants of Tucker Drive have had their daily dealings seriously stifled as a result of riddle roads. Mr. Kamarainba as President of the newly born organization further explained that the Patriotic Sierra Leoneans being a non-governmental organization that is Diaspora based, derives funds mainly form US$1.00 (One Dollar) daily membership subscription. He continued to say that based on the value of patriotism towards National improvement, as an organization they expend finances to pressing needs after objective evaluations.

This is how he maintained that they came about to adopt the construction of Tucker Drive. Nanette Thomas National Coordinator and Second-in-Command Attitudinal and Behavioural Change Secretariat while cutting the tape after pouring of libation for the road construction urged other Sierra Leoneans especially those living within the Goderich Community to emulate the Patriotic Sierra Leoneans. The organization pursuit to uplift road construction; she said depicts patriotism. Such moves by citizens, Madam Thomas pointed out, are what helped to develop countries like America and other’s.  She called on the Community to make good use of the road when it would have been constructed since this is what will motivate Patriotic Sierra Leoneans to help other needy Communities.

Mr. James Fallah Tucker who claims he has lived in the Community for decades commended Patriotic Sierra Leoneans for coming to their aid. In his own contribution, the foreman for the road’s construction Mr. Alimamy Kamara alias American described the intervention as exemplary of being true Sierra Leoneans. Other members of the organization that witnessed the occasion included Madam Zuliatu Cooper, Mr. Foday Mansaray, and Dr. Francis H. Dove-Edwin.

  • It is good that the people of Salone are helping to make the country better but I think the government`s Department of Transportation should be doing this for the citizens of Salone.
