Saudi dispatches two for issuance of ‘Hajj’ visas in Freetown

Following the confidence and credibility in the security situation in Sierra Leone, the authorities in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia have dispatched two of their nationals for the issuance of 2011 ‘Hajj’ visas in Freetown.

The two officers attached to the Bureau of the Consular Section in the Saudi Foreign Ministry, Messrs: Fawaz Bin Tanaf Al Otaibi and Mohamed Bin Salah I. Sharif are expected to arrive in Freetown Tuesday, 17th October, 2011 to issue about 700 Hajj visas, an official at the Saudi Foreign Ministry confirmed last night.

Some of the documents required for hajj visa

According to the Ministry of Hajj, applicants must have a passport with a validity of at least six (6) months and the passport should have at least two empty visa pages adjacent to each other.

Each applicant must submit one recent passport size colour photograph with a white background. The photograph must be a full-face view in which the visa applicant is facing the camera directly. Side or angled views are NOT accepted.

The applicant must submit proof of vaccination for meningitis. The certificate of vaccination should have been issued not more than three years and not less than 10 days prior to entering Saudi Arabia.

 Pilgrims Assured

In another development, the Minister of Hajj, Dr. Fouad Abdul Salam Al-Farsi, has announced that his ministry would provide “around-the-clock services” to all pilgrims the moment they arrive to when they depart.  “We have worked on mechanisms aimed at enabling pilgrims perform their Hajj rituals easily and comfortably,” he added.

The Embassy of the Republic of Sierra Leone in Riyadh have also put in place mechanisms to receive it’s would –be- pilgrims expected to arrive at the Prince Mohamed Bin Abdul Aziz International Airport, Medinah in the next few days.

What’s Hajj?

Hajj is the annual Muslim pilgrimage performed here in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the fifth pillar of Islam – a religious duty that must be carried out by every able-bodied Muslim who can afford to do so at least once in his/her lifetime.
