67 traditional healers imprisoned

Reports have it that about sixty-seven (67) traditional healers are currently remanded at the Central Maximum Prison at Pademba Road for allegedly flouting rules and regulations of Traditional Healers Association.

It could be recalled that President Koroma in his pursuit to weed out unnecessary killings of individuals by means of fetish, appointed Dr. Alhaji Kabba as the head of Traditional Healers Association.

His task was to eradicate witchery activities at public offices, communities etc, and to also sensitize society about the dangers of useless killings of Sierra Leoneans by native doctors.

The membership of the Traditional Healers Association have expressed dismay over the activities of certain traditional doctors, who for no reason, uses witch guns and other damaging implement to harm innocent Sierra Leoneans.

“We have observed that considerable number of traditional healers operate outside the understanding of the union, thereby killing and destroying blameless and future Sierra Leoneans,” Alhaji Kabba said.

“We will not sleep until those wicked people that are discrediting and sabotaging the union are located and dealt with by law.”

The 67 allegedly languishing in cells at the Central Prison are reportedly facing trial for their involvements in the killings and harming of vulnerable people.

Efforts to get comment from the Commandant of Central Prison yard proved futile.
