Addis Ababa Mission gets a Financial Attaché

Mr. Amos Coker (in photo), Financial Attaché of the Sierra Leone Embassy in Addis Ababa was officially presented to the home based and local staff at the Chancery on Monday 22nd August 2011 by Sierra Leone’s Ambassador to the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia, His Excellency Mr. Andrew Gbebay Bangali.

Mr. Coker arrived in Addis Ababa on Friday 19th August 2011 to take up his appointment.

Ambassador Bangali said that the incoming diplomat is from the Ministry of Finance and Economic Development and he is also a Principal Accountant.

He disclosed that Mr. Coker was among the seven Financial Attachés posted by the Government to seven Missions abroad.

In his introductory remarks, he officially welcomed Mr. Coker to Addis Ababa and expressed the hope that he will join in the Mission’s team work. He informed the staff that the Financial Attaché was posted to this Mission because of the nature of the job here and the strategic importance of the Embassy.

The multi accredited Envoy said that Mr. Coker will use his expertise in the discharge of his duties while expressing the hope that all members of staff will work with him as a family.

Responding, Mr. Amos Coker expressed his sincere appreciation to all Embassy staff especially the support Ambassador Bangali has been giving to him since his appointment and promised to work amicably with all Embassy staff.

He pointed out that quarterly remittances which are sent to the Embassy will not be delayed any more. However he cautioned that returns should be sent on time.

Mr. Coker also said that the Parliamentary Oversight Committee on Finance is very concerned about how remittances are expended and accounted for.

Mr. Coker has a wealth of experience and he has worked in the following institutions; Procurement Assistant, United Nations Mission in Sierra Leone (UNAMSIL) ; Head of Finance, Bo District Council and Project Accountant, Bumbuna Hydroelectric Project, among other organizations.

The event was coordinated by Mrs. Juliana Sia Hawa Fallah, Acting Head of Chancery of the Sierra Leone Embassy in Addis Ababa.
